Tonight the house has turned into a tent and become a wasteland oasis for our annual post-apoptotic party.  Had a alright turnout of people who came and went throughout the night and everyone had a pretty good time.  People's customs were not quite as good as last year's but we had a few who dressed up.

DrQue.net downtime

On Friday the Micro-Dragon was shutdown for the first time in 358 days as Zen had to do Internet maintenance.  Unfortunately, it didn't start back up.  We tried some troubleshoot during the afternoon but it looks like the hard drive died and without a replacement it will stay down.  So over the weekend I setup a Raspberry Pi to take over.  I had been backing up settings daily using a cron job, so it didn't take long at all before I had a configured device.  On Monday Zen get the Pi connected and the DNS and e-mail are back to being functional.
Although not much slower than the Intel Atom it replaced, the Pi is noticeably slower.  So I am going to look into other single board computer options.
Big shout out to Zen for taking the time to trouble shoot this problem with me over the phone and IM.  Zen has been DrQue.net's DNS home for years and it makes life very easy.  Thanks Zen!!

Happy Pi Day!

It is Pi day, and for work I picked up 6 pies from our local bakery.  I found one can easily fit 100,000 digits of Pi in 5 point font on two 11x17 sheets of paper and hung a print out of the digits near the break room.  Not sure anyone noticed though.
Pictured is James under a green glow.  Has exactly the effect I was going for.
After work today Xiphos and I started work on the setup for our post-apocalyptic themed party.  It is to be a tent city somewhere in the wasteland, so we needed a tent.  We started with the living room.  I picked up some drywall stilts from a coworker at a really good price and tonight was the first time I got to use them for setup.  They made setting up the ceiling truss and hanging canvas quite easy, but they also make this a two person task.  I cannot bend down to pick up anything and must have everything handed to me.  On the stilts the top of my head is at 8 feet.  I can easily work on the truss, hang lights and canvas, and adjust lights.  The living room looks pretty good and Xiphos and I will work on more of the house as the week continues.
