So here is my basement of our house Elmwood Park. It shall be known as the Wyvern's Haunt . Reconstruction of the box started today. The only issue with reassembling the box is the electrical setup. The enclosures I had made around the switch/outlet covers didn't hold up and had to be removed. So I am making a new enclosure for them, although with a shelve.
The day started yesterday bright and early, and went non-stop for 19 hours. Most of the house was not ready to move. Having always lived as a self-contained part of a house, I had never given much thought to packing the rest of the house. Moving turned into a nightmare of "get it done".
On the plus side, our new landlord allowed us to move into our new house a couple days ahead of schedule. This was fantastic because even the largest storage garage we could find was quickly running out of space. I'm not sure we would have been able to get everything into it.
I went to bed in the morning and slept quite sound, waking very sore. But we were moved.
All my boxes have been pretty easy to disassemble. The drywall screw construction makes this easy. This box had a challenge however. The top is 6x8' and there is no way I can get it out of the basement in one piece. It is made up of a hardboard glued to plywood. I thought I would have to cut the tabletop in half. I was lucky however. The seam along the plywood easily split the hardboard. It wasn't neat, but it was easy. I'll figure out how to fix that latter.
Our first load into the storage shed. Since at this point we had everything in boxes I decided to make the most of it by stacking them to the ceiling. If we continue this policy, we should be able to get everything into the shed. And having items to the ceiling will save space as there are many things that will not be as neatly able to stack as boxes.
So the moving begins. We have been packing since the beginning of the month. Today Xiphos and I rented a storage shed so we had a location to move items. Madison has a terrible policy for renters. Leases expire on the 14th and you can not move into a new place until the 15th. A storage garage is about the only option when you have a 3 bedroom house full of stuff. We rented the largest shed they had and loaded the truck to the hilt.
