Captured out a bedroom window at Park Place. It was the only shot of the evening that turned out any visible lighting as most of the strikes were either behind us, or stayed in the clouds. The shot was an 8 second exposure at F/16. I did not realise I was shooting ISO 800, but I\'m pleased with the shot none the less.

Indigo Dragon takes over as primary webserver

The White Dragon relinquishes it's primary task as a web server to the Indigo Dragon. The Indigo Dragon expands on all functions of the White Dragon. It's 60 gig hard drive is a step up from the White Dragon's 20 gig, and with the growth of the web site's footprint, this space is needed. The Indigo Dragon's base operating system is SuSE 9.1 with kernel 2.6-- a step up from SuSE 7.3 with kernel 2.4. The Indigo also holds the title for fastest computer on the Park Place network, with an Atholon 2600+. But it's mobil CPU can operate on a mear 200 watt power suply, enabeling the 1.15 KVA UPS to keep the server on even longer durring power outages.

Dual monitor setup on Red Dragon

Having a video card with tons of horsepower and two monitor headers has proven to be too much to resist. We've long thought about having a 21" monitor, and now we've done. The Red-Dragon now has as it's primary monitor, a 21" `Perfect Flash' ViewSonic running in 2048x1536 at 68 Hz. Our 19" Schneider sites along side, running 1600x1200 at 75 Hz. With 3.1 megapixels, the 21" ViewSonic is an awesome graphics monitor. And with the additional space from a second desktop on the 19", we have tons of needed workspace.
We typically setup the 19" as a status space, watching the web server logs, bandwidth and temperatures, along with holding some standard apps, like the IM list and music. When work with graphics, the 21" holds the image, while the 19" holds tools like layers, color palette and the like. It is an excellent setup :)

Having sat in Pluvius's basement for a couple weeks as DrQue.net's backup server, the Indigo-Dragon returns to Park Place.  Plans for the Indigo Dragon include permently hosting DrQue.net so the White Dragon can turn into an other expermental Linux box.

DSL changes complete

The phone compney has switched the DSL service and DrQue.net returns to the Park Place servers.  We got to use Rsync over SSH to sync the White Dragon to the Indigo Dragon (to keep logs and the databases matched), and it worked flawlessly.

Park place DSL goes off-line

We lost the DSL connection today, but the phone compney says the black-out period shouldn't last byond Monday.  The Indigo Dragon sits happly under the couch in Pluvius's basement, quietly serving DrQue.net.
