honestly for the price of admission when I went with you that rink really wasn't worth it. I'm going to watertown Thursday summer cheapskate for $3 from 6:30-9 :) And I found someone to start skating with I'll bring her next weekend if you go skating in Beloit.

Ahhh, Lady James. His fashion sense is impeccable as always.
My somewhat reluctant return to Cedar Rapids today.  It's been a nice week vacation, but time to head back to Iowa for work.  I brought James and Erik with me so they could see the area.  On our drive down we stopped at a little local deli and picked up stuff to make sandwiches on the drive.  And I said "sudo make me a sammich" and it worked!
This is Aislinn, my goddaughter, whom I'm teaching to roller-skate.  This is our 4th skating session, and she has learned a great deal.  She is now able to skate without any assistance from me, and with my help she's faster then just about anyone else on the floor.

How do you pronounce 'Aislinn'?

Pictured is Erik doing dishes--a high-torque drill with a wire wheel used to clean a frying pan.  Teflon is for losers!

Hey - cooking on bare aluminum is much better than getting Teflon bits in your food!

Hell yeah, it's gettin' the dishes done, Garage-style! It reminds me of you getting the charcoal grill going fast by using a leaf-blower to help get the coals red-hot. LOL

To celebrate surviving 25 rotations around the giant hydrogen bomb, I went out with Tyson, Steve and Courtney to a nice German restaurant.

That was a good day. I particular enjoyed our meal at Essen Haus. I'm thinking of finding myself some more of that Spaten Optimator beer that I had. That was some awesome stuff. You and I will have to tip back a couple bottles.

First Flight

Piper Warrior II

Piper Warrior II

Pictured is the airplane I flew today.  Yep--I was in the pilot's seat.  After years of simulator addiction (my gateway drug) I decided to try actually being behind a flight yoke.  Since it was my first time, I didn't get to do much.  I made a few turns, learned to steer on the ground using my feet, did a few radio calls, and learned the basics of the pre-flight check list.  Just like any escalating addiction, it costs a lot more.  But I think having my pilot's certificate would be cool.

Very expensive hobby gas prices have been over 5.00 bucks since I was little. My dad loves the Piper Line of planes :) we used to have a Piper Archer II until he sold it when I was 10.

That's so awesome! Driving a plane is probably the funnest thing you can do.

Flying would be mucho badass. After you get your certification, it would be cool to see you get a multiple-engine certification and fly more complicated craft in the future.
