Dual monitor setup on Red Dragon

Having a video card with tons of horsepower and two monitor headers has proven to be too much to resist. We've long thought about having a 21" monitor, and now we've done. The Red-Dragon now has as it's primary monitor, a 21" `Perfect Flash' ViewSonic running in 2048x1536 at 68 Hz. Our 19" Schneider sites along side, running 1600x1200 at 75 Hz. With 3.1 megapixels, the 21" ViewSonic is an awesome graphics monitor. And with the additional space from a second desktop on the 19", we have tons of needed workspace.
We typically setup the 19" as a status space, watching the web server logs, bandwidth and temperatures, along with holding some standard apps, like the IM list and music. When work with graphics, the 21" holds the image, while the 19" holds tools like layers, color palette and the like. It is an excellent setup :)

DSL changes complete

The phone compney has switched the DSL service and returns to the Park Place servers.  We got to use Rsync over SSH to sync the White Dragon to the Indigo Dragon (to keep logs and the databases matched), and it worked flawlessly.

Park place DSL goes off-line

Graphic card upgrade

Not since 2001 when the White Dragon was born have we upgraded the video card. But, questioning proformance improvements, we decided to buy from Pluvius a Radeon 9600 with 128 MB. It's a bit of a step up from the nVidia Geforce 2 w/ 32 MB. We also have video capture, which we confermed can capture directly to MPEG-4 with MP3 audio. So I don't really have any more excuses not to convert the 8mm video tape to digital ;)

DSL changes taking place.

The DSL setup at Park Place is undergoing change, and a temporary server is being setup with Pluvius to handle  The phone lines are getting changed over to a new name, and due to their system, it means we have to get the current line shut-off and the new line connected.  Due to the possibility of downtime, Pluvius has agreed to host with his connection while the change takes place.

IP address change

It's been a long while (like, since June of 2002) since we've been assigned a new IP address.  But, we now have a new one.  All primary domains *should* be functional, with a few we don't control being switched over as soon as their respective operators get the message.

Apache updates

The Indigo Dragon took the show for awhile while we compiled Apache 1.33, mod_ssl 2.8.22, and OpenSSL 0.9.7e.  It's been quite awhile since we've updated Apache and before we did it I wanted to be sure we had a backup server.
